GRADUATING STUDENTS EQUIPPED TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE

Message to Middlesettlements parents/guardians and staff:
Dear Middlesettlements Elementary Families,
With heavy hearts, we share that Tony Maccarino, one of our bus drivers and a beloved member of our school community, has passed away as a result of a traffic accident.
Tony's connection to Middlesettlements extended far beyond the bus route. He was an important part of our school family. Tony loved the children he served, and they were always in his heart. His loss will be deeply felt by our students, staff, and families.
We are sharing this information so you have the opportunity to talk with your child at home. Children may respond to news of a death in different ways depending on their age, experiences, and connection to the person. Simple, honest, age-appropriate conversations can help them express their feelings and ask questions.
We are working with our district's Student Services team to support students and staff. If your child is having difficulty processing this loss or would benefit from someone to talk to at school, please contact us so we can help connect them with support. Resources for families are also available through the National Alliance for Children's Grief at https://nacg.org/.
Please keep Tony's wife and fellow bus driver/owner, Annette, family, and loved ones in your prayers and respect their privacy during this difficult time. We are grateful for the care and love Tony shared with our children and the lasting place he holds in our Middlesettlements community.
